The
answer is: “These alumni recently competed on Jeopardy!”
Two Holy Cross alumni recently competed on
the television game show Jeopardy, both taking home impressive
winnings
thanks to a potpourri of eclectic knowledge. Peter O’Malley ’93
appeared on the game show in June. After taking one championship,
he finished in second place and took home close to $10,000.
O’Malley is currently the assistant director of the
master of liberal arts program at Harvard University. Chris Matthews ’67, host of MSNBC’s Hardball
with Chris Matthews and author of American: Beyond Our Grandest
Notions, Hardball, and Kennedy and Nixon, also took his turn
with Alex Trebek on May 1. After beating all of his opponents
on Celebrity Jeopardy, Matthews netted the top prize money
of $50,000. He donated half of his winnings to Holy Cross
and the other half to the La Salle College High School Scholarship
Fund.
