The
Premedical Program is not a major. Instead it is a sequence
of elective courses in science that are usually taken in addition
to one's major. Most important, we believe that students should
major in whatever subject they find most engaging. We have
had students accepted to medical school who majored in every
discipline offered at Holy Cross, including fine arts, religious
studies, philosophy, economics, political science, modern
languages, classics, etc., as well as the traditional sciences.
We have found that students do much better in a major that
genuinely interests them, and they also feel more in control
of their life. Also, since more than half the students who
start college with an interest in medical school eventually
decide against it, it is much better to major in a field of
genuine personal interest than to choose a field that you
think would enhance your chance of acceptance to medical school.

Primer.
