Elisa Shevlin Rizzo '93 is an attorney with Cummings & Lockwood, LLC in their Stamford, Connecticut office. She concentrates her practice on sophisticated estate planning and administration, planning for non-U.S. citizens, charitable planning and planning for individuals with special needs. She is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and New York and before the United States Supreme Court.
After graduating from Holy Cross with a degree in history in 1993, Elisa worked in the fashion industry for several years. She then returned to school and received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1998. Elisa began her legal career at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York where her practice included the representation of large family groups in connection with their domestic and international tax and estate planning needs. Elisa joined Cummings & Lockwood in 2001 in order to spend more time with her growing family.
Elisa has co-authored several publications in her field including two chapters, "Basic Conflicts of Laws Principles" and "Enforcement of Spousal and Forced Heirship Rights in the U.S.," which were included in A Guide to International Estate Planning Drafting, Compliance and Administration Strategies, published by the American Bar Association and "Grantor Treated as Owner of Entire Trust" for Steve Leimberg's Estate Planning Newsletter, published by Leimberg Information Services, Inc.
Elisa is involved with a number of civic and charitable organizations and presently serves on the boards of Family Services of Westchester, Inc. and the Junior League of Bronxville. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association Trusts & Estates section. She resides in Bronxville, New York, with her husband, Bill, and their three children, Lucy, Billy Jr. and John Patrick.
