The German Studies Major (CISS)
- a minimum
of 10 courses plus a capstone project
- 2 courses
of Intermediate German (Germ 201, Germ 202)
- 1 course
in Advanced German (Germ 301 or Germ 302)
- 2 courses
in German Culture or Literature (Germ
303 or Germ 304). These courses are conducted in German.
- Hist
161 (recommended) or Hist 162
- 4 elective
courses, of which no more than two may be taken from the offerings
of the German section of the MLL Department. Approved courses
are: Hist 161, Hist 162, Musc 30,* Musc 40,* Musc 215, Musc
216, Phil 141,Phil 144, Phil 145, Phil 268, Phil 270, Phil
275, Phil 280, Phil 283, Phil 291, Rels 127. Please consult
the course catalogue for course descriptions. N.B. This list
is not exhaustive. Courses (including seminars and tutorials)
may be approved as they are offered. (Some of these courses
have prerequisites. * Course counts provided it deals with
a German or Austrian composer.)
- Capstone
Project. The capstone project may take on various forms, depending
on the course of study chosen by the student.
- Relevant
courses in German Studies taken during Junior Year abroad
may be counted towards the German Studies Major if approved
by the German co-ordinator.
- Students
are expected to develop a coherent program in concert with
their advisor.
