Wen-tang Tu

Visiting International Lecturer ~ Chinese

Once there was a shy boy who lived in Formosa, far away from here, who had been living in his dreams since he was born.

One day when he was studying in a high school located in the countryside, one thing burst into his mind… He was in the biology class that day, when, all of a sudden, something attracted him so much. Nothing to do with Biology, instead it was a "voice". The voice was so beautiful, the tones, the pronunciations. Yes that's it, Mandarin. Mandarin Chinese attracted this shy boy so much. From then on, he paid attention to any word, any sentence, any joke the Biology teacher had told. In one year, this boy speaks Mandarin as well as his mother language "Taiwanese dialect".

The boy majored in Finance and Taxation when he was in college, but he found he didn't like to live with analysis and accounting numbers. After Military service for his country, he helped his father to run the family business, yet he didn't have much passion for that.

Twelve years ago the guy worked for an American company, which opened his view to the whole world. 5 years ago he started to teach Mandarin for foreigners at Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages in Taiwan. Three years ago he started to have his voice-over for radio stations. Two years ago he wrote a story for advanced Mandarin learners and now he teaches Mandarin at College of the Holy Cross.

He will keep giving his passion to Mandarin learners, and keep writing stories…, His name is Wen-tang Tu
