Hi everyone!
My name is Joachim Zimmer and I am from the beautiful medieval town of Rothenburg, Germany. In order to become a teacher, my studies took me to the Otto-Friedrich University in Bamberg where I’ve been studying English and History over the last three years.
Next year, I will be your FLA in German. I hope we can not only learn from each other about the differences between the English and the German language, but also about your way of life, your cultural interests and your view on the world. Since I first came to the United States in 1993 I was a huge fan. The upcoming year at Holy Cross is a great opportunity for me to gain experiences as a teacher and as a visitor. But most of all, I hope we all have a great time together.
I myself am a rather relaxed person. I love (all kinds of) music and movies. In Germany, I used to play the French Horn in various orchestras and Bands.
I play soccer (what else, I’m a German!), but I like several other sports as well. Of course, literature also plays a big role in my life, currently; I am working myself through the books of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
