There are many opportunities for teaching English in China for a summer or a year or more. This list is provided to get you started in your search. Because conditions change very rapidly, we do not have accurate first-hand information about any of these programs.

As you look for a position, keep the following in mind:

Get an offer in writing, with all details clearly specified, including those involving housing, salary, visa, teaching hours, vacation time, etc. If your employer has not agreed to your conditions before you sign a contract, there is essentially no chance that he/she will agree to them once you have arrived in China.
There are salaried positions for English teachers. You need not pay a company for the opportunity to teach. However, if a program offers training, there may also be a tuition fee for you.
If you will be teaching for a year or more, you should ask for round-trip travel between the US and China. Summer teaching will probably not include air fare.
