Chinese Program Faculty
Claudia
Ross 
(Ph.D. Linguistics, The University of Michigan) is Professor of Chinese
and Coordinator of the Chinese Program. She has twice served as the
President of the Chinese Language Teachers Association, is a member
of the editorial board of the Journal of the Chinese Language Teachers
Association, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the CET Study
in China Programs. She has lived in Beijing, Taipei, and Tokyo, speaks
Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, and has twice served as Director of
the CET Chinese Program in Beijing. Her research focuses on syntax
and the lexicon in Chinese. Click

Baozhang
He 
(Ph.D. Chinese Linguistics, The Ohio State University) is Visiting
Assistant Professor in Chinese. He has served as Director of the Chinese
Language Program at Harvard University, as Head Instructor in the
Princeton in Beijing language program, and has taught at the University
of Florida, the University of Michigan, Indiana University, and the
Middlebury College Summer Chinese Language School. Click

Mingde Xu is a Foreign Language Assistant in the Chinese program. He is a graduate student in the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University and holds a bachelors degree in linguistics and literature from Tsing Hua University in Taiwan . In addition to teaching Chinese, he has worked as an editor, and for the past two years he has been the editor of the Newsletter of Chinese as a Second Language, published by the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. He likes to swim and also enjoys watching movies.
Lili Teng Foti (鄧立立 Dèng Lì-lì ) is a part-time Visiting Lecturer in Chinese. She teaches both Chinese language and Chinese literature. She holds an M.A. degree in teaching Chinese as a second language from National Taiwan Normal University. She was four times awarded the Certificate of Distinction in Teaching when she taught at the Chinese program at Harvard University .
During her service at Yale University , she developed a third-year Chinese course and published a textbook: Discussing Everything Chinese. She also has taught at Williams College as a Teaching Associate. Presently pursing a Ph.D. degree in Learning Technology at the University of Connecticut , her research focuses on educational psychology and on-line language learning.
