- a virtual reference service -
the Holy Cross Libraries is partnering
with eighteen other libraries from the
Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities
to provide 24/7 Virtual Reference Services
to students, faculty and staff of participating
institutions. Through the co-browsing
features of the Tutor.com software, librarians
can provide high quality online
research services to students from
coast to coast.

Library Passport - a
nationwide reciprocal borrowing program
for faculty. Holy Cross faculty now have
direct borrowing privileges at all the
other Jesuit colleges and universities

Database
changes - four
long-held and heavily used subscription
databases, ATLA, Biological Abstracts,
MLA, and PsycINFO, were moved to the EBSCO
platform at the beginning of the academic
year. Increased access to full-text journals
and a common searching interface should
prove to be an advantage in the use of
these databases.

Main
Event - The
Fatherless Children of France: "Their
Book" an exhibition of works by the
leading writers and artists of the post-WW1
era will be the next major exhibit presented
by the College Archives. This material
was collected to help the starving children
of French soldiers. The exhibit will appear
on the second floor hallway of the Dinand
Library.

Search Premier - a
new database from EBSCO has been added
to the Library's database collection.
It is multi-disciplinary covering the
social sciences, humanities, education,
etc, with indexing and abstracting for
about 7800 scholarly journals and full-text
access to approximately 3700.

Scholar, the premier Chemistry
resource, is now available to researchers
at Holy Cross. It contains chemical and
patent literature, reaction databases,
and the CAS Registry. While the database
is web based, it needs to be locally installed.

of our patrons. You will now find Concordances,
Census Data, FindLaw and many other useful
websites intermixed with our subscription
databases.

offers full text access to articles, images
and advertising. Several search options
provide for more precise searching. Thus,
it is possible to search by article type
for death notices or editorials.
