Liberation of Buchenwald (Nordhausen)

These photographs have been selected from a set taken by Major Orval C. Clark, 104th US Infantry Division, on April 12th, 1945. The images reflect what Clark witnessed at the time of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp at Nordhausen, a sub-camp of Buchenwald. The titles on the links to the photographs were not assigned to the original images and have been added here for descriptive purposes only. The Clark file, kept in the College of the Holy Cross Archives in Dinand Library, contains a total of 35 photographs.

Read a letter written by Vincent Chatel on the collection. Chatel is the son of a survivor and co-author of the web site "The Forgotten Camps."
