The Fatherless Children of France
This exhibit, originally mounted for the 2004-5 academic year, is a collection of autographs,
manuscripts, photographs and artwork from some of the greatest names in literature , art, politics and the military
of the WWI era. A society created to help French war orphans intended to auction the material for a fund raiser. To
prevent the collection from being broken up, Mrs. David Johnson bought the whole collection and donated it to Holy
Cross in 1953 in memory of her husband who attended the Preparatory Class.
