Rev. Joseph T. O'Callahan, S.J.

Rev. Joseph T. O'Callahan, S.J., a professor of mathematics and physics at the College, served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. He served in World War II as a chaplain aboard the U.S.S. Franklin. Rev. O'Callahan, S.J. was awarded the Medal of Honor as a result of his heroic efforts in the aftermath of a devastating attack on the U.S.S. Franklin. Rev. O'Callahan, S.J. was the first Navy chaplain to be awarded this honor.
