Format: Reading/discussion:
You should read all the material assigned before coming
to class and expect to participate in the class discussions. Class attendance
is expected and your participation in class discussions will be weighed
in determining your course grade, approximately 10% of the total.
This is a writing intensive course and you should read my comments
on writing history papers at Writing
Across the Curriculum. All written work should conform to the guidelines
in the Research
and Style Guide on the History Homepage. Students should also
familiarize themselves with the policy on academic honesty on the History
Homepage.
Grading:
Five papers (4-5 page essays) and one map exam; each of the papers
will count for 15 points each; the final examination will count 15 points
and class participation and the map exam represent 5 points each toward
the final grade.
