Gilman International Scholarship Program

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 to study in one country for a minimum of 4 weeks and up to a full academic year. This program is specifically designed to allow traditionally underrepresented students with high financial need the opportunity to study abroad. They encourage applications from students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, students going to non-traditional study abroad destinations, students with disabilities, and students in fields of study underrepresented in study abroad. All applicants must currently be receiving a Federal Pell Grant. There is a Gilman Critical Need Language Supplement of an additional $3,000 for language training for students intending to study in the Middle East, North Africa or other non-traditional locations.

The online application and instructions can be found at the program website: www.iie.org/gilman
