Student
Organizations
There
are a number of organizations focusing on the
support of our diverse student population.
The
Multicultural Peer Educators
are a group of students who work together and
influence culture through transforming the opinions,
attitudes and behaviors of first-year students
regarding issues of unity and diversity. The
MPEs meet regularly throughout the academic
year as a group and also with first-year students
who have expressed an interest from Orientation
and Common Ground for dialogue and discussion.
Supportive listening sessions, experiential
exercises, trainings and lectures are a part
of this on-going program.
A new component for the MPEs is the development
of collaborative programming with the Office
of Residence Life. MPEs and Resident Assistants(RAs)
are paired together to plan hall and floor programs
which continue the discusssion of human differences.
