Kids
to College Program
Kids
to College (K2C) is an early awareness college
planning program for 6th graders. Holy Cross
is one of the participating schools in Massachusetts.
Based on discussions at recent national
summit meetings on early awareness, sponsored
by The
College Board and The
Education Resources Institute (TERI),
K2C contains many of the elements which
have been shown to build a foundation and
instill a “can-do” attitude in
the children and their families: a hands-on
curriculum about preparing academically
for college and an introduction to the financial
aid system; a visit to a college campus;
interaction with college students, faculty,
and administrators; and ongoing program
development through evaluation.
The Director of Multicultural Education
is the Holy Cross Campus liaison with the
Worcester Public Schools involved in K2C.
For the children’s campus visit, we
provide transportation to and from the College
as well as a day long series of events geared
towards sparking an interest and enthusiasm
for the possibilities of later college attendance
and study.
