1. Those entering the essay competitions listed under the eligiblity pages should submit their names and the nature of their entry to the Chair of the department concerned by February 8, 2008. Consultation with the Department Chair on the development of the project is strongly advised.

2. All essays are to be typed, using double space.

3. Normally, all essays are to be at least 3000 words in length.

4. Assumed names are to be used. A sealed envelope, containing both the assumed name and true name, is to be submitted with each essay.

5. No single essay can be used for more than one Award.

6. All essays are to be submitted to the Chair of the department concerned by March 13, 2008. Chairs will submit names of the winners to the Dean's Office no later than April 2, 2008.

7. Procedures for contributions to The Purple are determined by the editorial staff of The Purple.
