Michael F. Collins, M.D.
Michael F. Collins, M.D., Clinical Professor of Medicine at
Tufts University School of Medicine, is Chair of the Board
of Trustees of the College of the Holy Cross. Dr. Collins
has held leadership positions in Catholic health care, having
served as President of Caritas Christi, the Archdiocese of
Boston health care system, from 1994-2004; Secretary for
Health Care Services of the Archdiocese of Boston, from 1995-2004;
President of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston, from 1994-2001;
and as a trustee (1994-2003) and Chair of the Board
of the Catholic Health Association of the United States (2001-2002).
Dr.
Collins is a 1977 graduate of the College of the Holy
Cross and a 1981 graduate of Tufts University School
of Medicine. Board
certified in internal medicine, he trained in internal medicine
at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston. Early
in his career, 1984-1986, Dr. Collins was a member of the
faculty and medical school administration at Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Collins
returned to Boston in 1986, to join the medical dean's
office and faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine
where he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and
as an Associate Dean until 1994, when he assumed
the presidency of Caritas Christi.
