The Rotunda at the University of Virginia; Charlottesville, VA. Designed by Thomas Jefferson. It was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome which, although Jefferson never saw with his own eyes, he knew it well from plates of it in several architectural handbooks, especially Book IV of Palladio's four books of architecture.
