Welcome. This site was prepared so students in Atoms and Molecules could review material from the Covalent Bonding Laboratory Experiment. The following pages show various representations of the molecules that form the basis of this experiment. Included are electron pair structures, molecular structures and a special rotating view of the molecule to assist students find symmetry elements for the compounds in question.
The program works best using Netscape Navigator version 4.05. To obtain this browser please click here. Before you proceed, you must also install MDL's Chemscape Chime (a simple plugin) into your browser. If you have not done so, please click here.
On the following pages you will notice two frames. The right frame contains the molecular information and its static images. If you click on the small button, you will see a rotating image of the molecule that gives 3-dimensional information for that structure. Using your mouse in the left frame you can start and stop the rotation as well as view the molecule from any angle you wish. For a list of commands, click here.
Note: Occasionally the rotating view of a molecule does not load when the button is pressed. If this occurs, press the reload button and press the button again.
