Special Awards to Biology Majors
Spring 2008

The department is blessed with many excellent, highly motivated students who are help to make the college a better place by their intellectual and service contributions. It is a difficult task each year to select from a highly talented group where many are deserving of such accolades.

The Rev. John W. Flavin, S.J., Award in Biology

The Flavin Award is given to a fourth-year biology major who has shown "excellence in scientific achievement, significant humanitarian service, or contribution to the vitality of the Biology Department and the College."

Jason Tartaglione '08

Jason Tartaglione has maintained one of the top grade point averages at the College. He completing a year of student research in mutagenesis and has been a member of the Biology Department Student Advisory Committee, which he co-chaired his senior year.

Jason plans to attend medical school in the fall.

The Teresa Churilla Book Award in Biology

Awarded to the second-year biology major who best exemplifies the ideals of intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and scientific promise

Lauren Duffee '10

.

Lauren is well known not only for her academic excellence but also for the breadth of her intellectual interests and her active participation in classroom discussion. She plans to attend medical school.
