- Professor Leon Claessens has had a big summer. He was awarded a $497,735 NSF grant entitled "Aves 3D: An online database of three-dimensional avian skeletal morphology." Also, he recently appeared with one of his students, senior Michael Krzyzak, on the History Channel in a one hour program "Evolve: Flight." Read more here. Congratulations, Dr. Claessens & Mike!
- Congratulations to two Biology majors:
- Senior Jason Tartaglione named the 2008 recipient of the Reverend John W. Flavin, S.J., Award given to the fourth-year biology major who has shown "excellence in scientific achievement, significant humanitarian service, or contribution to the vitality of the Biology Department and the College.
- Sophomore Lauren Duffee was named the 2008 recipient of the Teresa Churilla Book Award given to the second-year biology major who best exemplifies the ideals of intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and scientific promise.
