Dealing With Nutrition
Good nutrition is a significant factor
not only in athletic performance but more importantly in general health. Unfortunately,
there is a lot of inaccurate and faddish information at large with regards to
nutrition. The links below are meant to provide pointers to excellent on-line
resources dealing with nutrition. It was compiled by Dr.
Bill Pierce (an old college friend of mine) who is at the Dept. of Exercise
and Health Sciences at Furman University. He found these links and wrote much
of the descriptions; I have reviewed the sites, added a few comments here and
there, and organized the sites according to type. Bon Appetite and
Eat Smart!!
Please note that Prof. Pierce's
well-maintained website contains many (numerous might be a better term) links
relating to exercise physiology, social issues and sports, and to particular
sports (for example running). It is an excellent starting place for anyone interested
in learning more about exercise science, training, and nutrition.
