The Concentration
in Peace and Conflict Studies is a multidisciplinary program
available to all students who wish to complement their major
field with courses on world peace and social justice.
The Concentration
is administered through the Center for Interdisciplinary and
Special Studies (CISS). Each year CISS and Peace and
Conflict Studies bring visiting experts in a variety of peace,
conflict, and justice issues to Holy Cross to teach topics
courses and give public lectures.
Why
Concentrate in Peace and Conflict Studies?
The purpose
of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program is to educate women
and men for the responsibility of citizenship in an age of
nuclear weapons; regional, ethnic, and religious conflicts;
environmental deterioration; and global economic interdependence.
It seeks to give students the motivation and competence to
deal effectively with threats to peace, justice, and human
