Multidisciplinary Major in LALS

A template has been designed for students interested in majoring in LALS. Under this template, students will develop a 12-course major proposal, in consultation with the LALS director, who will then recommend an appropriate major advisor for the student. The template requires that students take courses in a number of disciplines, including Spanish language, History, Political Science, and Sociology. The template also requires the student to develop a four-course "thematic cluster," consisting of four courses in different fields, linked by a common intellectual thread. One course out of this cluster may be the optional capstone course, in which the student will pursue his or her interests more intensively through a semester-long, supervised research project.
