Groups

Psychoeducational and support groups are designed for students who would like to improve their self-understanding and interpersonal relationships and to perform more effectively as a student. Some programs deal with general issues and allow for much open discussion, identifying feelings, sharing views about issues of personal concern, and receiving honest feedback and support. Others have a more particular focus and concentrate on building specific skills.
In each, a small group of students (5-10) meet with a clinician(s) to learn from and help one another.  Groups typically meet weekly for a set number of weeks during the semester.

The following groups are being offered this academic year:

Mindful Living, a psychoeducational group, will have a focus on sleep hygiene, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and prevention.  It will be offered for four consecutive sessions each semester.

Managing Stress : The Power of Relaxation, a psdychoeducational group, is designed to teach participants about the fundamentals of stress and anxiety management.  It will be offered for four consecutive sessions each semester.

Family Connections, a support group, will focus on providing support to students regarding their transition into adulthood and the impact on their roles in their families.  It will provide an opportunity for students to explore positive connections with family members as well as unhealthy family patterns.  It will be offered for weekly sessions each semester.
