What About Confidentiality?
It is important to understand the Office cannot divulge the names of students who are currently, or have in the past, used its services, nor can it release any information about the content of specific counseling interviews without a student's written permission or as may be required by law.
The Office's adherence to legal and ethical standards necessitates a very strict commitment to this policy.
An RA or PE interested in a student's contact with the Office should obtain this information directly from the student. The student is in a position to reveal information about his/her contact with the Office, whereas a professional staff member is not.
