What About Confidentiality?
It is important for members of the College community to know that the Counseling Center cannot divulge the names of students who are using or have in the past used its services, nor can it release information about the content of specific counseling interviews without a student's written permission or as may be required by law. The Center's concern for the legal and ethical standards of professional psychology necessitates a very strict adherence to this policy.
A faculty member or administrator interested in a student's contact with the Center should obtain the information directly from the student. The student is in a position to reveal information about his or her contact with the Center whereas a licensed psychologist is not.
