Blessing of the statue of Rev. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. (1907-1991)

track Join Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., Senior Vice President Frank Vellaccio and the Lovelette family for the dedication and blessing of the statue of Rev. Pedro Arrupe, S.J., tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Smith Laboratories courtyard.  The generous gift was given by Stephen A. Lovelette '78 in memory of his father, Marshall K. Lovelette. This life-size statue of Fr. Arrupe now greets students, faculty and visitors as they enter Smith Labs, the newest building on campus and the cornerstone of the College's integrated science complex. Fr. Arrupe was preparing for a career in medicine when he decided to become a Jesuit priest, interrupting his medical studies for a time. As a physician, he combined faith, service, and science.
