Investing in Students

Our reputation and future rest on our ability to attract outstanding students. A Holy Cross education—rich in possibilities, and providing essential intellectual and spiritual benefits—must remain within reach of all qualified students, regardless of their ability to pay. One of our fundamental objectives is funding need-based financial aid.
So, too, is the goal of providing summer research and professional internships to our students. A liberal arts education is in itself empowering, but it can be augmented by experiences outside of the classroom and beyond the gates of Holy Cross. Such College-directed opportunities are an essential part of the educational experience, and can open students’ eyes to career paths, while opening doors to future employment.
Making Holy Cross more financially accessible and presenting more culturally broadening opportunities for our students has the added benefit of opening Holy Cross to greater diversity. In the past three years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of applications from African-American, Latin American, Asian-American, and Native American (ALANA) students who are talented, dedicated, better prepared and more confident than ever. Now, our challenge is to build a campus community that continues to reflect and embrace the broad tapestry of American society while maintaining our character as a Catholic and Jesuit college.
