Major Gifts

The Office of Major Gifts engages alumni, parents and friends in discussions regarding opportunities to support the College’s mission and priorities through leadership gifts to focused initiatives and programs.

Leadership gifts may be directed to specific programmatic funding priorities, and may be pledged over a period of up to five years at the discretion of the donor. These gifts may be funded through a combination of outright gifts of cash and securities, limited partnerships, real estate, other forms of tangible personal property, and may include a planned gift component including bequests, trusts and annuities, or similar vehicles.

Major gifts typically form a component of a comprehensive gift which includes a current-use gift to the Holy Cross Fund, Crusader Athletics Fund or other current use purposes. Working in close coordination with the Holy Cross Fund, Gift Planning, and Parent Giving offices, major gift officers engage donors in a series of conversations that aim to identify areas in which the financial and programmatic needs of the College intersect with the philanthropic interests of the donor.

Major gifts may be made in support of financial aid, academic excellence, a variety of endowment funds, the renovation and construction of campus facilities, programmatic needs in academics, student life, athletics, spiritual life, the arts, and all other aspects of the College’s operation.
