Holy Cross Rowing Association
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Holy Cross Rowing Association is to maintain the bonds of friendship between all members of the Holy Cross Rowing Family and to provide financial and volunteer support for the current Holy Cross Men and Women rowers so they can successfully compete at the highest level of collegiate rowing.
Execution:
In order to effectively and efficiently implement the Mission Statement, the Rowing Association proposes the following:
- Publications - The Association will publish a quarterly newsletter that it will distribute via email. The Association will write the content of the e-newsletter with input from the Men’s and Women’s coaching staff, College representatives, and, if appropriate, current members of the Men’s and Women’s teams. The Holy Cross Alumni Relations Office will create a college email address from which it will distribute the e-newsletter to former rowers, parents of present and former rowers, and other friends of the program. The newsletter will include race results, rower profiles, notes from coaches, alumni updates, and other content created by Association volunteers. In addition to the newsletter, the Association will suggest ideas to the College for publication in Holy Cross Magazine, HolyCross.edu, GoHolyCross.com, and other College media sources.
- Membership Database - The Holy Cross Rowing Association will receive its data from the existing Holy Cross Alumni Relations/Development database system. This system tracks and immediately records updates to constituents’ biographical information (i.e. mailing address, email information, career information, College organization affiliations, etc.). This database will enable the Association, through the Alumni Relations Office, to distribute its quarterly e-newsletter; it will also allow the coaching staff and College representatives to communicate directly with alumni, parents, and friends of Holy Cross Rowing. In accordance with College policy, alumni addresses/email lists are given to volunteers and other constituents only after approval by the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations, the coaching staff, and the Director of Athletics.
- Event Planning - The Association will plan and host events and co-host events with the Development Office that will encourage fellowship among alumni, parents, and friends of the rowing program. The Association plans to hold an annual event at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Additionally, the Association will consider holding events during the spring racing season to provide an opportunity for constituents to reconnect and support current team members.
- Fundraising - The Association will help to raise financial, budget-enhancing support for the Holy Cross Men’s and Women’s rowing teams. In partnership with the College’s Development Office, Association volunteers will be encouraged to solicit donations from rowing alumni, parents, and friends for the new Crusader Athletics Fund or other approved College fundraising initiatives. The coaching staff, with the approval of the Director of Athletics, shall have discretion on use of the fundraising monies. Any funds raised are to be considered additional funds and are not meant to replace funds allocated to the sport through the College budget.
- Career Networking - The Association will foster and support professional networking links between alumni and current rowers though special events and networking opportunities.
