The College Catalog explains that "Holy Cross is a place to learn how to learn."

By design, the curriculum leads students through progressively more challenging educational experiences - beginning with first-year Montserrat seminars that introduce skills critical to academic success at the college level, and culminating in capstone experiences, senior theses and independent research opportunities that pave the way for graduate and professional school applications.

Our overarching objective, summarized in the Goals of a Liberal Arts Education, is to equip our graduates not only with a body of skills and knowledge that they can draw on in the short term, but also with the breadth of understanding and the capability and enthusiasm to explore new fields that will be critical to their success in a rapidly changing world.
