Who’s Who in the Social Sciences

cLoren Cass, Ph.D., associate professor of political science

Loren Cass, Ph.D., associate professor of political science, looks at the politics of the environment. Understanding the politics of a global issue like climate change requires a comparative perspective says Cass, a specialist in international relations and political economy. He notes that in the United States, scientific pluralism reigns, while in Europe, there is greater consensus – a difference with obvious implications for environmental policy making. Sharing this broad, international approach with his students motivates Cass. “No matter what path they pursue after Holy Cross, they will gain greater awareness of the world around them and become better citizens of that world,” he says. “And the training in critical thinking and analytical writing that this approach demands will always serve them well.”
