Donelan Office of Community-Based Learning

In keeping with the College's mission to educate "men and women for others," community-based learning enables students to be of service to the greater Worcester community while enhancing their understanding of course material. This kind of experiential learning within a course at Holy Cross may include service in a church, community, or public service organization; or an educational or health institution. Placement usually involves weekly sessions at the community site for a total of 15 to 20 hours per semester.

Community-based learning courses can be found across the curriculum in academic departments, concentrations and programs of the Center for Interdisciplinary and Special Studies. The office provides these connections between courses and community sites thanks to a generous endowment established by Joseph P. Donelan II '72.
