Message from the President
As you explore the Holy Cross Web site, you will learn more about our campus, our curriculum, and our character. I hope that you will also feel welcome in our community, whether you are a prospective or current student, a parent, an alumnus/a, or a visitor.
You may already know that Holy Cross is a Jesuit, undergraduate, liberal arts college. Taken together, those characteristics define our mission and our vision for our students. When you become a member of the Holy Cross community, you accept an invitation to participate in an ongoing dialogue about basic human questions: What is the moral character of learning and teaching? How do we find meaning in life and history? What is our obligation to one another? What is our responsibility to the world's poor and powerless? It is a dialogue distinguished by openness, inclusiveness, and respect for the views of others.
We encourage our students to seek answers to these questions in the classroom, but also in their dormitories, on our athletic fields, during liturgies and retreats, and through service opportunities in the greater Worcester community. Upon graduation, they perpetuate this vital dialogue as leaders in business, medicine, the arts, law, education, and countless other vocations.
I hope that this Web site will communicate some of the excitement about learning that energizes our campus. To experience that enthusiasm first-hand, schedule a visit in person. We would love to have you join us.
Michael C. McFarland, S.J.
President
