HOPE Lodge is a house in Worcester that provides housing for cancer patients and their families while the patient is receiving treatment at area hospitals. HOPE Lodge is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The volunteers visit HOPE Lodge one night a week, and spend time with those patients who are eager for company. The ages of the patients range from infants to elders. While at the site volunteers and patients play games, bake treats, watch movies, or simply sit and chat. The program is a wonderful experience for patients and volunteers. “We brought smiles to their faces each week, and even inspired them to start similar groups of their own after they left HOPE Lodge.
