Political Science

Faculty members in the Holy Cross political science department bring their wide-ranging scholarship and  perspectives to the study of government.  Courses and other academic offerings include the empirical study of American and international political regimes; theoretical approaches that attempt to explain political action in its various forms, both within nations and among them; and the study of philosophic texts that address the questions of the nature of justice, the best way of life, and the best political order.

The department major requires students to complete courses in four sub-fields of American government, political philosophy, comparative politics, and international relations. Proficiency in a foreign language is also recommended.

Beyond helping to promote intelligent and active citizenship in today's world, the study of political science at Holy Cross helps develop powers of reasoning, critical and analytical skills, and competence in oral and written expression.
